Take a slow, deep breath in and breathe out longer; do this 4 more times.
Drop your your jaw and shoulders along with a deep breathe in and out
Grounding techniques where you connect to your environment with your senses can help you get out of your head. Find a quiet spot and start by naming 5 things you see, 4 things you can touch or feel, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste
This exercise can help you calm down and step away from the overwhelming thoughts and emotions you’re experiencing. You can use it to take a break and then reapproach the issue later from a fresh perspective.Â
You may be overloaded. You’re not broken.

YOUR NEXT GENTLE STEP
If you can, put your phone down for just one minute.
- Take a deep, slow breath in... breathe out even more slowly. Repeat four more times. Now quietly ask yourself: "What is something I'm repeating in my head right now?" Just acknowledge it.You don't need to solve it now. Imagine placing that thought on a leaf floating down a stream or a cloud drifting across the sky as you let it go.
- Meditating for 10–15 minutes a day, or deep breathing like can also train your brain to return to the present.
-
The 5-year rule is also a useful tool: Focus on your current worry, ask yourself if this was to still be here is 5 weeks, months or years, do you still want to be overthink this?
Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is let sabotaging thoughts go, acknowledge and then release one calm, deep breath at a time.

How can I stop overthinking?
Â
 You might be noticing: Â
Racing thoughts • replaying conversations • imagining worst-case scenarios • difficulty making decisions • trouble switching your mind off • mental exhaustion
Not every thought needs your attention.
Why am I so tired all the time?
Â
 You might be noticing: Â
Low energy • struggling to concentrate • heaviness • brain fog • lack of motivation • just running on empty  • feeling drained before the day begins
Rest is not something you need to earn.
Why am I so tired all the time?
Â
YOUR NEXT GENTLE STEP
- Please give yourself permission to pause for just a few minutes.......Put down your phone and take in a deep slow breath, hold counting to four and release the air out... gently hold again while you count to four..... relax.                                     Repeat this four more times. With your inner voice, quietly ask yourself: "What do I need right now?" Not tomorrow, not next week, right now.                     Allow what comes up without judgment.
Â
- You don't need to solve everything today, just choose one small act of kindness for yourself. Here are a few examples (be sure you do something you align too);  Stretch your body, sit in the sunshine, close your eyes and simply rest. Sit down and enjoy a cuppa or a glass of water, or go for s short stoll if possible, otherwise visualise youtself doing this......small moments of self-care can create beautiful meaningful shifts within.
Sometimes we're not physically tired—we've just been carrying too much... for too long—give yourself permission to stop carrying so much. Let it go!

Â
YOUR NEXT GENTLE STEP
- If you can, step outside or away from technology just a minute or two—.take a deep, slow breath in...breathe out loudly as you release; let it out.....Repeat this four more times. Now quietly ask yourself: "Do I really need to give my attention to this thought right now?" If the answer is "no, not right now"...than picture yourself putting it with love in your thought safe—it's okay, you can let it go as it will still be there if it truly needs you. Otherwise release it to the universe to take care of for you.
-
Choose something to focus on, just one thing...now feel your breath, the warmth of your hands, the sound outside.....our mind doesn't have to be empty. It simply needs somewhere gentle to rest. This mindfulness practice can help anchor attention into the present moment, reducing the intensity of racing thoughts— it also helps promote relaxation.Â
When your mind struggles to turn off becuase you can't turn off, it doesn't mean you've failed, it's the minds way of asking for your help.

Why can't I switch off my mind?
Â
 You might be noticing: Â
Your thoughts keep going • replaying conversations • planning tomorrow • difficulty relaxing • feeling mentally "on" all the time • struggling to fall asleep or simply be still
Your mind may need a little kindness.
Why do I feel anxious for no reason?
Â
 You might be noticing: Â
Busy mind • feeling unsettled • struggling to relax • checking and worrying • not in the present • feeling like you cannot relax
Sometimes we experience moments that are hard to explain.
Why do I feel anxious for no reason?
Â
YOUR NEXT GENTLE STEP
-
NLP anchoring can help when experiencing a sudden wave of anxiety without a clear cause, you can use an anchor to regain calm back in your body. First, think of a memory where you felt deeply relaxed and confident, try to relive this by engaging all your sensations and emotions. As this feeling is at a high, physically use a gesture, such as pressing your thumb and forefinger together. Repeat this process several times to strengthen the association. When anxiety strikes unexpectedly later, make the gesture to instantly trigger the associated state of calm.Â
-
Take time to pause, it only needs to be for a minute.your feet comfortably on the floor. Take a deep, slow breath in, feeling it come from as deep as your stomach....then breathe out slowly. Do this another four times. As you breathe, simply notice what is happening around you, you are not trying to change anything, just observe..
Sometimes we're not physically tired—we've just been carrying too much... for too long—give yourself permission to stop carrying so much. Let it go as one calm moment can be enough to create some space for yourself.

YOUR NEXT GENTLE STEP
If you can...
Step away from your screen for just a minute.
Take one slow breath in...
...and let the exhale be longer.
Repeat four more times.
Now quietly ask yourself:
"Does this thought need my attention right now?"
If the answer is "not right now"...
Imagine placing it gently on a shelf.
It will still be there tomorrow if it truly needs you.
Sometimes we simply lose sight of ourselves while taking care of everything else.

Bring awareness to the top of your body, your head, face, neck, shoulders and count to 4. Notice any movement or feelings for approx 5 seconds Move down to the arms and over the hands to the count of 5. Acknowledge thenote if you are seated or lying down. Feel the contact of whats beneath your body, Moving to your upper legs, moving down to your ankles and feet and back up becoming aware of any particular places calling for attention, now focus on all the areas that are happy, well, and healthy.Give gratitude to parts of your body, your cells and your organs.

SIMPLE GROUNDING
Sometimes the simplest things really can help.
-
Did you know stepping outside for a few moments, noticing the ground beneath you can be really helpful to reconnect.                                                Find a some grass, water, soil, sand, stone, or timber, and allow yourself to feel supported—bring your attention into this moment.                             Notice your breathing. Feel your feet or your hands making contact with the chosen surface and tune into the furthest sound you can hear......now listen to the closest.  Look around and gently name five things you can see. If you can get outdoors, and it feels right of course.....
-
My favourite grounding is go hug a tree. I love doing this!Â
Sometimes nature has a beautiful way of reminding us that we don't have to carry everything alone.

There’s often something deeper underneath the noise.
Overthinking isn’t just “too many thoughts.” It’s often a system that learned to stay alert, prepared, and in control.
If you’re noticing this pattern keeps returning, you don’t need to force it away — you can begin to understand it.
And from understanding, things soften.
